As many of you may be aware, the Climate Solutions Now Act of 2022, requires implementation of Building Energy Performance Standards (BEPS). The stated goal is for covered buildings that are 35,000 square feet (based on our interpretation of the definitions most garden apartment communities are covered) and larger to efficiently achieve zero net direct greenhouse gas emissions by 2040. The regulations were officially proposed this September to the Maryland Register, and MMHA responded with written comments on October 9th. Additionally, this comes as Governor Wes Moore has signed an Executive Order which includes proposing a zero-emission heating equipment standard regulation and a clean heat standard regulation that may have an impact on the industry.

Given the significant impact that the proposed BEPS will have on the industry, MMHA has partnered with the Maryland Coalition for Inclusive Energy Solutions to offer a webinar on BEPS and discuss the challenges presented.

Please join us on Thursday, November 21st at 1:00pm virtually here to attend.
